Job Title – Managing Director (MD) – Microfinance Bank

Job Summary –
The Managing Director (MD) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and financial performance of the Microfinance Bank. The MD ensures sustainable growth, effective risk management, regulatory compliance with CBN Microfinance Guidelines, and delivery of financial services that promote financial inclusion and support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Location – Ikorodu, Lagos.

Key Responsibilities
– Strategic & Business Leadership
• Develop and implement the bank’s strategic and business plans
• Drive growth in loan portfolio, deposits, and customer base
• Expand outreach to underserved and low-income communities
• Promote financial inclusion initiatives

– Financial Management
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and profitability
• Monitor portfolio quality and PAR (Portfolio at Risk)
• Ensure strong liquidity and capital adequacy position
• Improve revenue generation while maintaining asset quality

– Credit & Risk Oversight
• Oversee credit approval processes and loan recovery strategies
• Ensure strong credit risk assessment and monitoring systems
• Manage operational, liquidity, and reputational risks
• Strengthen internal controls and fraud prevention systems

– Regulatory Compliance & Governance
• Ensure compliance with CBN regulations and reporting requirements
• Maintain high standards of corporate governance
• Liaise with CBN, NDIC, auditors, and other regulators
• Ensure adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and KYC policies

– Operations & Team Leadership
• Provide leadership to senior management and staff
• Develop performance management systems
• Build a strong institutional culture of accountability and service
• Oversee branch operations and digital microfinance initiatives

– Stakeholder Management
• Report to the Board of Directors
• Maintain relationships with investors and development partners
• Represent the bank in industry forums and community engagements

Key Competencies
• Strong leadership and decision-making ability
• Deep knowledge of microfinance operations
• Strong credit and risk management expertise
• Financial analysis and performance management skills
• High ethical standards and integrity
• Strong knowledge of CBN Microfinance framework

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred
• Minimum of 10 years banking experience
• At least 5 years in senior management (preferably in microfinance)
• Professional certification (ACIB, ICAN, ACCA, CFA) is an advantage
• Must satisfy CBN “Fit and Proper” criteria
