Job Description
Chief Financial Officer
Energy & Infrastructure Organisation
February 2026
The Opportunity
If you are a seasoned, purpose-driven finance leader with deep experience in capital-intensive energy or infrastructure businesses and you thrive in environments where scale, structure, and long-term value creation matter, this could be the role for you.
The organisation is a fast-growing energy and infrastructure platform operating across gas, power, logistics, and asset-heavy businesses, with a strong focus on long-term infrastructure development and institutional capital engagement. With government interfaces, long-term offtake arrangements, and ambitious growth plans, the organisation is entering a critical phase where strong financial leadership is essential.
To support this next stage of growth, the organisation is seeking an experienced, commercially astute Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the executive leadership team.
In this role, you will lead the entire finance function of a complex, capital-intensive organisation operating in a regulated energy environment. You will be responsible for balance sheet management, capital structuring, governance, investor readiness, and ensuring the organisation meets the standards expected by institutional investors, lenders, auditors, and regulators.
You will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and lead the finance function, with full responsibility for accounting, reporting, controls, tax, treasury, and financial strategy.
The Role
As CFO, you will have responsibility and accountability for the organisation’s full finance agenda, including:
●Strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across multiple business units
●Balance sheet ownership, liquidity management, and capital structure optimisation
●Capital raising activities, including debt, equity, and project financing
●Financial governance, internal controls, audit, and regulatory compliance
●Tax oversight and compliance with all relevant local and international tax frameworks
●Investor relations and engagement with banks, DFIs, auditors, and regulators
●Leadership and development of a high-performing finance and accounting team
This is a senior, hands-on role requiring both strategic oversight and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, evolving organisation.
Candidate Profile
To succeed in this role, you will be a credible, experienced CFO or finance leader who understands the realities of operating in energy, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive sectors.
You will be comfortable balancing long-term infrastructure economics with short-term financial discipline, and you will bring the maturity, judgement, and calm presence required to operate at board and investor level.
Above all, you will be a trusted partner to the CEO, able to translate complex financial issues into clear, actionable insight for decision-making.
Skills & Experience
●Minimum 15+ years’ experience in finance, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role
●Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or equivalent senior finance leader
●Strong background in project finance, capital raising, and balance sheet management
●Demonstrated experience in regulated environments, ideally within energy, infrastructure, utilities, or logistics
●Strong knowledge of tax, financial, and regulatory policies, with hands-on tax oversight experience
●Registered with the Financial Reporting Council (FRC)
●Experience working with auditors, lenders, investors, DFIs, and regulatory bodies
●Track record of leading and developing a full finance function
●Strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking, and executive presence
Typical Focus Areas
Depending on the portfolio mix, the CFO will have exposure to:
●Oil, Gas & Infrastructure: project finance, capital budgeting, asset management, commodity risk
●Energy & Power: long-term contracts, funding structures, infrastructure economics
●Logistics & Asset-Heavy Operations: cost optimisation, cash flow discipline, ROI management
Qualifications
●Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
●Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CFA
