Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Hydrocarbon Accountant to join our team in Lagos.
In this role, you will be responsible for tracking, allocating, and reporting production volumes, revenues, and royalties for oil and gas operations. You will also ensure compliance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), regulatory requirements, and internal financial controls, while supporting accurate reporting and operational decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with strong upstream oil & gas accounting experience.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:
Production & Revenue Accounting
*Record and reconcile oil, gas, and NGL production volumes from field data, meters, and third-party statements
*Calculate revenues based on sales contracts, pricing formulas, and market indices
*Allocate production volumes and revenues to working interest partners according to JOAs

Royalties, Taxes & Compliance
*Ensure compliance with government regulations and contractual agreements
*Calculate and process royalties and production-based obligations
*Prepare and file severance, production, and ad valorem tax reports

Joint Interest & Partner Reporting
*Maintain accurate ownership decks and Division of Interest (DOI) records
*Address partner inquiries and resolve discrepancies related to volumes, revenues, and payments

Reconciliation & Internal Controls
*Reconcile production volumes and revenues with general ledger accounts
*Maintain strong internal controls across hydrocarbon accounting processes

Systems & Process Improvement
*Utilize hydrocarbon accounting systems such as P2 Energy Solutions, SAP, or Axis Hydrocarbon Accounting
*Identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, efficiency, and automation

✅ Requirements
*Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
*4–6 years’ experience in hydrocarbon or revenue accounting
*Strong knowledge of production accounting, JOAs, and oil & gas contracts
*Experience with royalty calculations, severance taxes, and regulatory reporting
*Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
*Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
*Excellent communication and attention to detail
*Experience in upstream oil & gas operations is highly preferred
