JOB TITLE – INTERNAL CONTROL OFFICER
Location – Lagos, Nigeria
Sector – Financial Services | Digital Banking

Job Summary
The Internal Control Officer will support the design, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls across the bank’s operations, ensuring transactions, processes, and systems are operating within approved policies and regulatory standards.

*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
• Conduct routine and risk-based internal control reviews across all operational units and digital banking channels.
• Identify control weaknesses, process gaps, and compliance deficiencies, and escalate findings with actionable recommendations.
• Review daily transactions, reconciliations, and system logs for irregularities and policy violations.
• Monitor adherence to the bank’s internal policies, standard operating procedures, and CBN regulations.
• Prepare internal control reports for management review and follow up on remediation actions.
• Support the investigation of fraud, financial irregularities, and operational risk incidents.
• Conduct pre- and post-disbursement reviews and spot checks on loan and payment processing workflows.
• Collaborate with the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer in strengthening the bank’s overall control environment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all audit and control activities.

*REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS*
• Minimum of a first degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in internal control, internal audit, or risk management within a bank or financial institution.
• Sound working knowledge of CBN guidelines, AML/KYC requirements, and banking operations.
• Professional qualification: ICAN, ACCA, or CIA preferred.
• Proficiency in core banking systems and experience in a digital or microfinance banking environment is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and report writing skills.
• High personal integrity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
