Job title – Financial Accountant
Reports to – Financial Controller
Location – Lagos
Job type – Permanent

Role summary:
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting business decision-making through reliable financial data and analysis. The Financial Accountant will manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support while contributing to the overall financial health of the Bank.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, including journal postings and account reconciliations.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Monitor daily cash positions and support liquidity and cash flow management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
• Support internal and external audits, including preparation of working papers and documentation.
• Generate management reports on deposits, loans, and other financial data.
• Liaise with internal departments to obtain required financial information.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls.

Education and/or Experience Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification is required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting role (financial services experience is an advantage).
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
